Weekend in Tahoe.

We joined the Pollocks and the Peikerts for a weekend of good food, great company and lots of playing in the snow. We arrived on Friday, early afternoon, to bright blue skies and deep snow. Aiden just loved playing on the sled, throwing snowballs and helping build a snowman. Saturday morning was filled with more playing outside, but by Saturday afternoon it started to snow and it did not stop until after we left on Sunday. Needless to say, we spent most of Sunday morning digging the cars out from under a foot of snow. It was definitely an unforgettable weekend, on the official start of Spring!! Here is the link to all the photos Sarah took.

My boys.

We had a quiet weekend at home and finished a few projects around the house. It is definitely getting warmer and it is wonderful that the days are longer. We will be swimming again one of these days. I was so impressed that Aiden was willing to sit by Zack while I took this photo. The boys are doing well. Zack is loving his solid food, but no teeth yet and Aiden is still all about cars and numbers. Potty training is going well, but we will only make the big transition to real underwear, once he starts wearing shorts.

Peikerts visit

Our Mountain View neighbours, the Peikerts, came to visit us this past weekend. The weather was really good (for a change) so we got to spend some time outside. We took a nice walk across the Rainbow Bridge spannig the American River in downtown Folsom and took our visitors to the Folsom Zoo. Bri actually saw a kangaroo and a bald eagle which is really amazing because those species have not been spotted in our town before ;-) Aiden enjoyed playing with Clara a great deal and Zack enjoyed watching the two toddlers cause chaos. They did, however, spend some quiet time watching TV while the adults enjoyed dinner and champagne. Zack is sitting great now and he can ride the Red Car to fetch the mail down the street now. The photo of him on the car shows him doing one of his Elvis lip impressions.

Lazy weekend at home

We continued our Friday night tradition of a bottle of good wine and a BBQ and Aiden thought the burger was o' so good! We had a quiet weekend at home; playing with the boys and doing a bit of home improvement - perfect for a couple of rainy, cold days.
Both boys are doing really well. Aiden is talking up a storm and keeps us in stitches all day long. Aiden is all about numbers these days. He only wants to wear his shirts with numbers on and he only plays with his race cars, that are numbered. Zack is enjoying sold food and chewing on any car Aiden is willing to share at that moment - usually a non-numbered car!

Happy winter days...

We are keeping busy with fun activities and play dates, even though it has been really cold and rainy this past week. We met Grayston, a barn owl from the Folsom Zoo during story time at Karen's bakery. Aiden was so impressed!
Today we played at Funtastic, a indoor play center with lots of toys, slides and things to climb on. I try to take photos with both boys in it, but this is the best I could do!

Fun in the snow!

What a weekend! We had the Svendsens over for a visit and met the Sinclair-Lees early on Saturday morning for a trip up to the snow. We had some decent rain/snow earlier this week, but we still had to drive almost all the way to Lake Tahoe to get to an area where the snow was good enough to play in. We ended up at a great little snow play area near the tiny town of Strawberry, CA. We were among the first people to use the slopes on the day, so the snow was still fresh and awesome! We did some sledding and then built a snow man. This was the first snow experience for both Aiden and Zack. We think they enjoyed it and we look forward to our next visit to Tahoe in March!

Zack is 6 months!

Time flies when you are having fun! I cannot believe Zack is 6 months already. Aiden loves being a big brother and does not mind sharing his cars, although he always make sure to point out that they are "Aiden's toys". I took Zack for his first photo shoot and we are very pleased with how the photos came out. At his 6-month doctor's appointment Zack weighed 16 pounds 2 ounces and measured 27.5 inches. If these measurements are anything to go by he will be slightly taller than Aiden but not as stocky. I guess Zack has my build and Aiden his Dad's, but we'll see.
