Snow cone, anyone?

We had a quiet weekend at home and just enjoyed the wonderful summer weather. We took the boys to Folsom lake and had our very first snow cone experience. A huge hit!
We also celebrated Zack's 10 month birthday and we are hoping the appearance of tooth number 4 in the near future will put Zack in a better mood! We have a grumpy little fellow at the moment. That snow cone definitely made him and his gums happy.

Playing with friends

We had a busy Memorial Day weekend and the best part was seeing how well the boys are starting to play with friends. Zack is doing his best to keep up!
Because this weekend is all about celebrating the start of summer (and my birthday) we spent a lot of time outside. We had the Rubows over for a BBQ on Thursday evening. Sully and Aiden share a love for cars and everything with wheels.

The Svendsens came up for a overnight visit on Saturday and it was great to see little Emily. Grant is such a great big brother and had plenty of patience to play with Zack as well.

We were able to get together with the Sinclair-Lees on Saturday evening for a BBQ at Folsom Lake. On the photo here, Tim thought that Jonas had to be on the "moms-with-babies" photo as well, even though Jonas was on Tim's back.

We had our final BBQ of the weekend on Monday evening, with fellow South Africans we met at the Run in Nature race we did a couple of weekends ago.

The rest of the summer is going to be a blast, if this weekend is anything to go by!

Tooth number 3

Zack's third tooth, top right, popped out yesterday...they seem to be coming in fast and furious!

Hot, hot, hot!

On Sunday we had our first 100 F (38C) day of the summer! We were in the pool at 8am for our first swim of the day, and spent most of the day there as well. Zack's front teeth must be itching underneath the gums because he could not get enough of my ice cream cone.
Today also marked our 1 year anniversary of moving into our house. It has been a busy, fun year with hopefully less gardening and chores in the year to come! Saturday morning we took part in the 5km Folsom Run with Nature. Gavin carried Zack in the back-pack for 4.5km (called it "training" for his Half-Dome hike coming up in June). Aiden walked/ran the last half kilometer and was thrilled to be able to cross the finish line just like the race cars he so adores.

Zack is growing up!

We had our 9 month doctor's visit last week. Zack now weighs 17.11 lbs (8 kg) and is 29 inches (74 cm) tall. He is almost two pounds lighter than Aiden at this age but about an inch taller. For all you mothers out there - he is in the 75% for length and 15% for weight.
My tall, skinny boy's two bottom teeth also appeared this week!

Zack is 9 months old & a dual citizen!

It has been a rainy weekend, quite unusual for California this time of year. We spent most of the time indoors, although when the weather cleared up late this afternoon, we quickly got the spa going and Dad, Aiden & Zack enjoyed some outdoor time with Mommy taking the pictures. This past week Zack turned 9 months old and he also received his South African passport - making him an official dual citizen (along with his bro). I'm sure you can tell from the photo he can't wait to start traveling. Christina found a great bargain on Craigslist that also came in very handy with the rainy weather we are experiencing. It is a train table with lots of tracks and about 16 trains from the Thomas and Friends series. Aiden calls the train table the "Island of Sodor" and plays with the trains for hours non-stop. Occasionally he will let Zack play with one of the freight cars. Tomorrow Zack is going for his 9-month doctor's visit, so we will update everyone with his weight and height soon.
