Zack at 1 month

Yesterday Zack was 1 month old. We've really been blessed with another easy-going baby (so far)... he is still sleeping and eating well, although it is starting to become a little more challenging getting him to fall asleep sometimes. This weekend we ventured out twice to visit with friends and although he did not sleep like he usually does, at least he was well behaved. It is Labour Day weekend here in the US, so tomorrow is another day we get to spend together as a little family of four. As you can see from the photo of Aiden - it is still very much summer and he still loves his yoghurt!

Mommy's Boys

We're at the beginning of a long weekend thanks to Labour Day, Sep 1st and this weekend is also the official end of summer. That's a good thing because it is hot hot hot today and we're ready for things to start cooling down a bit. Zack & I have been spending a lot of quality time with our Mom and it has been absolutely wonderful. She takes us to the park and the gym to play and we are swimming almost every day. The other cool thing I wanted to show everyone is what a package arriving from South Africa looks like... 77 postage stamps in total! Counting all the stamps was almost as much fun as opening the package. Thanks for our gifts tannie Linda!

Going well...

The two Harvett boys are doing well and get along with one another just fine so far. For the time being we've managed to synchronize their nap and sleep times fairly well, so mom and dad have actually had a decent amount of sleep since Zack was born. This week was the first time that Mom had a night alone with the boys (Dad was in Palo Alto for work), and she handled it very well. They went on a play date in El Dorado Hills where Aiden really enjoyed the basketball hoop. Zack's pediatrician wanted to double-check the size of Zack's fontanelles, so Mom took him for an ultrasound on Thursday. We hope to get the results back from the doctor next week. He seems to be doing great though and the bump on his head is getting smaller every day. We're having a relaxing weekend at home swimming, doing some gardening and watching the Olympics in-between the kids shows that Aiden insists on watching.

Getting bigger....

My mom left on Saturday morning after spending 4 weeks with us. The house feels empty without her and I know I will miss her on Monday when real life starts again...
We had a lazy weekend at home playing with the boys - Aiden just loves his cars and we are having an uphill battle trying to limit the time he watches the Pixar Cars DVD. Boys and their toys!
Zack is doing really well. He is a hic-upper, having the hic-ups at least once a day but at least that does not seems to bother him too much. He still has the bruise on his head he was born with, but the doctor thinks it should go away within the next two months. We are getting an ultrasound of his head this week to monitor the amount of fluid in the bruise but I think the doctor is just being cautious. That bruise is from his head bumping against my pelvis for about 2 weeks before his was born. This is what you get from dilating, getting ready for birth and then deciding not to leave the womb! :)

Week two milestone!

Zack had his 2 week birthday and doctor's visit today. He weighed in at 8lb 14oz, up 13oz from the day we left the hospital. My little guy is a good eater!
He slept for 5 hours last night, which I am very thankful for because our days are busy. He does make up for it during the day, when he is awake for most of the morning and is hungry every 2 hours. As you can guess, breastfeeding is going well.

A visit from the Svendsens

My buddy, Grant Svendsen, came to visit this weekend. We played in the backyard on our new swing and we showed them the Folsom Zoo. For now Zack is allowing all of us to get some sleep for which we are thankful.

Zack at 1 Week Old

Well, Zack has made it through his first week and he's eating, sleeping and doing other things that babies should be doing. He also got to lounge in Aiden's yellow tube which we think he enjoyed. Meanwhile Aiden is still the party animal and had a great time sliding & swimming at Nate's birthday party this past Sunday. The mornings are absolutely gorgeous lately, so we've been having breakfast at poolside. Life is pretty good!

Brotherly love

Hi world, this is me - Zack - with my very first blog posting. I came home with Mommy on Friday morning and I like home better than the hospital, although everyone at Mercy Folsom hospital were wonderful to me too. The best part of being home is that I now get to hang out with my cool brother Aiden. He welcomed me with open arms, hugs and kisses. We're going to be great buddies for a long time for sure. My crib sleeps well and I had my first bath at home last night... I guess I'll have to put up with that some more because dad says clean babies are happy babies... I'm eating well and performing all the necessary bodily functions that I should be. Hey - it's pretty awesome in the real world so far!
